ARUBA – Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort

Amsterdam Manor Beach ResortAbout 12 degrees north of the equator, approximately 18 miles off the coast of Venezuela, lies Curacao, member of the Dutch Antilles group of Caribbean islands. Only 19 miles long and 5 miles wide, temperatures here rarely fall below 75F in winter or rise above 85F in summer. On the western side of the island, 8 miles from the capital Oranjestad, Amsterdam Manor is a low rise beachfront resort with 72 fully appointed units located a few steps from the sandy shores of Eagles Beach. Amsterdam Manor suits families, couples and individual travellers alike, only minutes away by bus from the centre of town with its shops and restaurants. Quaint Dutch Caribbean architecture adds to the charm of private courtyards, airy poolside terraces, balconies and cascading waterfalls. Accommodation is in air-conditioned studios, with tasteful furnishings, kitchenette, terrace or balcony and cable TV. The superior studios have a Jacuzzi bath and oceanfront views; one and two bedroom suites offer great value for families or groups. There is a swimming pool, open air restaurant and bar with a breathtaking views over the shimmering Caribbean sea.

Diving

Diving in Aruba is famous for the spectacular shipwrecks and interesting coral formations that dominate Aruba’s underwater realm. This includes the 400 ft Antilla wreck—the largest wreck in the Caribbean. Most of Aruba’s dive sites lie along the protected western and southern coasts, a short distance from the hotels on Palm Beach. Aruba’s waters are rich in exotic marine life, including stingrays, moray eels, manta rays, barracudas and yellow tail. A large, shallow sand plateau surrounds Aruba making boat travel the most convenient method of reaching the off-shore reefs. Interesting coral formations are found from shallow water depths of 20 to 100 feet, with little or no current and flat surface conditions. Water temperature is on average 80F, though temps sometimes dip to the mid-70Fs in winter. Over twenty moored dive sites are shared by the dive operators on the island, and Red Sail Sports offers weekly schedules to the best of these sites. Red Sail Sports is the only PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre in Aruba. Specialised courses are also offered in drift, wreck, photo, night, search/recovery, multi level diving etc.
