Diving
The Sea of Cortez – referred to by Jacques Cousteau as the ‘aquarium of the world’ – is a unique ecosystem formed by powerful ocean currents generating constant water renewal. This has encouraged a huge diversity of marine life with over 800 fish species, and much pelagic traffic. The area attracts whales and whalesharks (predominantly May/June and August through to October), and humpback whales annually migrate across the southern Sea of Cortez. Best dive sites include El Bajo for its schooling hammerheads, the wreck of Salviaterra and Las Animas for ‘the Pinnacles’. Also a visit to Los Islotes is great for a chance to the dive with the numerous sealions.
Prices
From £1107 for 8 day trip including 6 nights Liveaboard and 1 night land based in La Paz, including full board and diving in a twin share upper deck cabin.

Diving
Due to the prevailing currents found in Cozumel, all boat dives are drift dives. Divemasters will lead every group of divers. The pace is generally very relaxed. When the currents are running stronger its easiest to go with the flow and let the current carry you over the reefs and through the passes. Naturally some dives are more advanced than others and your guide will help to evaluate your diving comfort level so they may suggest dive sites best suited to your skill level.
For those divers who can't get enough of Cozumel's undersea life, the UNLIMITED shore diving package is always available and just a few steps from your room.
The jagged ironshore limestone wall gives refuge to many juvenile reef fish, lobsters, crabs, octopi, and even an occasional seahorse — great for macro photography.
Prices
From £549 for 7 nights in double room full board, transfers and diving (3 days boat diving and UNLIMITED shore diving package).
Flight prices from £549 - please ask for details |
