BeachAs you head south from the busy resort of Hurghada the next town that you reach is the informal resort of Safaga , known as the gateway to the south. This is small town is dominated by the nearby busy trading port for which it is famous. It is an excellent base for those wanting to experience the wonders of the Red Sea whilst staying in a smaller, quieter resort.

Soma Bay is a new exclusive resort north of the Safaga. As well as luxury hotels and sandy beaches there is a PGA golf course designed by Gary Player, a Thalasso Centre and Emperor Divers Dive Centre.
